Daniel Vandenbark

I've attended college enough years to have several degrees, not certain about what I wanted to be when I grew up, my mom said "just be a hairstylist." It wasn't until I learned of industrial design that I had true vision & direction for my life. After several years of art classes, I had the portfolio necessary to apply to non-traditional schools. I received enough scholarships, awards & grants to return to a four year school and transferred into the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design program at The University of The Arts, which I completed with honors in 2002.

My road to interior design was a wiggly one. Growing up with a mother who founded the Shambhalla Institute, I guess I was primed to work on environments. My exposure to feng shui, shamanic & psychological modalities at a young age, garnered one-eye rolled & one-ear perked.

I dabbled in all the arts starting at age 10, when I got into my first juried show with a "conceptualized" pizza made of ceramics. As a teen I danced with a regional ballet company & would later get a theater degree from NYU where I studied psychology & body lanquage....virtually, anything to do with what makes people tick.

Post graduation I followed an opportunity to illustrate a series of children's books & settled into a heart felt career in fine art, illustration & animation. Along the way, I did feng shui as a favor for a friend that knew that I had grown up with it... & before I knew it, I had to make a choice between careers.

Because of the profound shifts I have seen in people's lives using these modalities, I chose to work with my mother at the Shambhalla Institute; designing interiors & furniture became my new art form. It has been the most fulfilling decision I have ever made. Today, I am grateful to be included in the wonderful team of DEZINE&.

Roger Licup

Roger, a great asset to the Dezine& team, draws on 8 years of design experience to refine the visual impact of the sites we build here at Dezine&.

Roger comes with years of experience creating compelling and unique web designs. Endowed with the rare combination of innate design sense and an amiable, and easy going personality. He has combined talents and experience in developing user experience and usability for Flash, HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and jQuery.

The only issue we have with Roger is getting him off the river and replacing his fly rod with a computer mouse and Photoshop.

The journey since the days of college have led me to great experiences & travels. I've always found inspiration in the challenges of creative problem solving. The days at The University of The Arts were great for theory, philosophy & psychology of design, with a focus in sustainability & a real concern for the environment. The concern for how products that we create are thought out from manufacturing, their life & the end of their life-cycle, "what happens to it?"

I came to work for DEZINE& in it’s earlier years. Then ventured into the corporate world as a senior project designer, with a focus in kitchen & bath. In 2005 I started my own firm where I was able to experience even more of the day to day operations of running a design firm. In 2010 a large project opportunity brought me back to DEZINE&.

I truly enjoy the interdisciplinary and collective environment with DEZINE&. I find a true balance is able to be struck in responsibility & originality. That is why I'm honored to be back as part of DEZINE&.
